Since it seems like “outside” is safe to venture (for now at least), taking that long-awaited vacation is making the vision of a post-pandemic world brighter. While some island hotspots and dreamy destinations have already become Instagram favorites, check out these wonders of the world that deserve your attention, too.

10. Playa Del Carmen, Mexico

Since the start of quarantine, Mexico has been high on every blogger/influencer’s list due to its gorgeous tucked away beaches, historic ruins, and delicious cuisine. The usual hotspots have come to be known as Cancun, Cabo and Tulum. However, if you want to travel to an alternative destination with beautiful beaches and shopping then try out Playa Del Carmen. It is the heart of Riviera Maya, once a fishing village, but now a place to either relax or go on adventures snorkeling, zip lining through the forest, or exotic bird watching.

9. Antelope Canyon, Arizona

I am sure you have seen these wondrous rock formations all over Instagram and multiple editorial photoshoots. However, seeing them in person is a next level experience. The striking slot canyons are on Navajo land and emit a sacred aura. After a tough year, this destination spot would be amazing to realign and ground yourself.

8. Yosemite National Park, California

Yet another natural wonder, this national park is known for its giant Sequoias, granite cliffs that seem to soar into the heavens, and mesmerizing waterfalls. Whatever your budget, you can rent space on a camp ground to pitch a tent, book a cabin or stay in a 5 star hotel. This is one of the few places in California you will actually be able to see the stars light up the sky but watch out for the Black bears and coyotes that roam the landscape.

7. machu-picchu, Peru

This place should definitely be on your bucket list. It is one of the 7 Wonders of the World and sits on Inca ruins. However, this place is not easy to get to due to its location high in the mountains. It is known as the “Lost City of the Incas” due to the Spanish not even being able to find it in the 1500s during the mass conquering of lands. The granite rocks that construct Machu-Picchu weigh tons and there are over 100 flights of stairs leading up so bring your walking shoes because the view will be worth it!

6. St. Lucia, Caribbean

This endearing island sits between the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the Caribbean Sea on the west. It is amongst the 7000+ islands that make up the Caribbean boasting beautiful culture and vitality from its locals. While there, you will be able to witness breathtaking sunsets, picturesque beaches and indulge in fresh seafood. Don’t forget the rum punch, their specialty! Also, learn more about St. Lucia’s historical identity by taking a tour around the cocoa, coconut, or banana plantations.

5. Istanbul, Turkey

This little gem of a city is one of the oldest in the world. The spectacular architecture dates back to the days of the Roman ruins, Byzantine mosaics, Ottoman palaces, and imperial mosques. Get lost in this historical fantasyland and try out the various kebob restaurants and modern, cool bars. While venturing through this labyrinthine city you can overlook the legendary Bosphorus river that runs throughout the neighborhoods. Instagram worthy? Check.

4. Vietnam, Southeast Asia

Long since the war, Vietnam has reinvented itself to become a tourist destination. Its magical landscapes offer a sense of escape any great getaway offers. If you are a foodie then you are in the right place. Try out local favorites like pho or a Bahn Mi sandwich at the packed food stalls of the Old Quarter in Hanoi, the country’s capital. Also, Hanoi is known for its breathtaking beaches of Ha Long Bay to the Mekong Delta that are too picturesque for words.

3. Tanzania, East Africa

So you want to go on a safari you say? Well, Tanzania is the best place to live out your wildlife dreams. Its mainland is home to the largest density of wildlife in the world such as wildebeests, zebras, giraffes, buffalo, gazelles, lions, leopards, and cheetahs just to name a few. The country is also made up of unique landscapes including grasslands, woodlands, rock formations and mountain peaks. And let’s not forget Africa’s tallest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro, that sits as the perfect backdrop. A vacation here will surely be unforgettable.

2. Bora Bora,

French Polynesia

Bora Bora, the island of romance. You have seen these string of water huts all over Instagram that boasts luxury and awe. After a 50 minute flight from Tahiti, you will land and see white sand beaches with tropical slopes, valleys of Mount Otemanu blossoming with hibiscus and clear blue water. As one of the most beautiful islands in the world that feels secluded, it ranks high on the list.

1. North Island, New Zealand

This place marks the top of the list due to its varying topography. You can surf on their pristine black sand beaches of Auckland or the subtropical hidden gem Bay of Islands. You can relax in a hot spring at one of the top spa’s in the world called Polynesian Spa or venture to admire the breathtaking waterfalls cascading down the various lakes. And lastly, you can get engulfed in the Māori culture native to the Polynesian people of New Zealand where you can watch traditional performances.
